Teddington Town – Photo of the Week

Good afternoon Teddington Town followers!

April is finally here, meaning we’re a quarter (yes 1/4!) of our way through the year. Amazing! The clocks changing means that those bitter morning walks have turned into bright strolls with a lot of different types of snap to take and we’ve seen a few excellent ones this week.

Why not give it a go yourself next week? Either tag us in at @Teddington_Town or simply post the hashtag #TeddingtonPhotos.

Have a great weekend and avoid being taken for any more April Fools jokes today. Here’s the top 5 from this week!

#5 – Wonderful sky shot, although that’s not a UFO is it?

#4 – It’s great weather to get out and play some sports, that’s why we like this one.

#3 – A great example of Spring in full flow.

#2 – Boats on display in Teddington.

#1 – This one makes number 1 this week for obvious reasons. Enjoy retirement Alan!

Doors closing on Alan Hopgood’s time at Teddington station

Buying a ticket at Teddington station won’t be the same again as Alan Hopwood, who’s career on the railways started in 1976, is retiring. Alan, who has served Teddington commuters for over 30 years, has been dubbed ‘Mr Teddington’ and has been recognised in the rail community and by locals for his excellent service to the community.

Back in 2010 Alan was awarded an MBE for services to public transport. Alan said: “I enjoy working at Teddington station. It is an ideal size station where I can meet with 30 to 40 “friends” every day and work with fantastic colleagues. Being honoured with an MBE is a real privilege. I am delighted to be given this honour and will continue to try my best to be helpful to our customers.”

Rail passengers and locals alike have relied on Alan’s knowledge of the local area and his route and ticketing knowledge to help them about their day, whilst still being a friendly and welcoming face to many who arrive by train.

Thanks for your service Alan!

Alan will be having leaving drinks on March 28th 2016 at The Adelaide in Park Road from 7pm if you’d like to join him and wish him well.

Good afternoon everybody, we hope you’ve had a fantastic week!

It’s that time where we take a peek at all the local photography in the Teddington and surrounding areas and find our favourite snaps from the week. We’re not just interested in the best cameras, or angles, but also what locals are up to and how they’re celebrating our glorious Town.

#2 – A wonderful shot of a glorious dancing swan. What a snap Louise!

#1 – To round-off the week, here’s our number 1 to prove Spring is upon us.

Enjoy The Warmer Weather, But Remember To Keep Doors And Windows Closed

We have had reports from the local authority that they have been dealing with opportunist walk in thefts, which take a matter of seconds, across the weekend – this of course coinciding with the warmer weather experienced recently in the region.

There have also been thefts from motor vehicles in the area recently so remember to close your windows and keep valuables with you and not on display.

We have been asked to send on the following link from Mick Allen in the Community Safety Unit at the Local Authority so we can get the widest possible consultation network – please feel free to pass on to whomever you know on the Borough too.

Happy Friday!

The sun has been peeking out this week and it looks as if Spring is definitely on the way. As much as we love the eerie cloudy shots, it will be nice to see some glimmering green from you all as we move further into March.

We’ve been on Twitter today looking over the awesome work you guys do when you’re walking the dog, or cycling to work and it’s always hard to pick our favourites.
